Research Interests

We often think of learning as something you do in a classroom. However, unbeknownst to us, our brains are constantly adapting to better anticipate and meaningfully interpret the information we get from our environments. Implicit or unconscious learning of this sort likely supports the development of important skills such as language comprehension and visual object processing and could also lead to adaptive changes in adulthood.

My research investigates how our perceptual systems and our learning and memory systems work together to flexibly change how we interpret new information based on our experiences. At the Sackler, I am working with Dr. Dima Amso to investigate changes in adult visual perception based on experience using both behavioral and fMRI measures. In addition, we are using eye tracking measure to investigate how experience affects visual perception in infancy.

I am a visiting PhD Candidate from the Psychology Department at Cornell University in Ithaca. Prior to graduate school, I received a BSc from University of British Columbia in Cognitive System: Brain and Behaviour, held a lab co-ordinator position for Dr. Lawrence Ward at UBC, and completed a fellowship program with the Cognitive Neuroscience Program of McGill University.
